The skeletal system of vertebrates is an essential topic in biology education that requires concrete and detailed visual representations. Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) was selected as the research subject due to its wide availability, affordability, and relevance as a representative teleost fish with a complete and complex skeletal structure. This study aimed to: (1) describe the skeletal anatomy of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) systematically and in detail; (2) develop an anatomical atlas of the Nile tilapia skeleton as a student learning resource; and (3) assess the feasibility of the atlas as a biology learning resource at the senior high school level. This research integrated two methodological approaches: a descriptive qualitative approach for the skeletal anatomy study and a research and development (R&D) approach for atlas production. The research subject was Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) obtained from the local environment. Skeleton preparation was performed using the maceration method to produce clean and intact bone specimens. The feasibility assessment of the atlas was conducted in stages by a media expert, a subject matter expert, a high school biology teacher, and peer reviewers, followed by a limited trial involving 15 Grade XI students at SMA IT Abu Bakar Yogyakarta using Likert-scale assessment instruments. The results revealed that: (1) The skeleton of Nile tilapia is composed of two major divisions: the axial skeleton, encompassing the neurocranium, splanchnocranium (upper and lower jaws, hyoid apparatus, gill arches, and opercular series), and the vertebral column (atlas vertebra, trunk vertebrae, and caudal vertebrae); and the appendicular skeleton, comprising the dorsal, anal, caudal, pectoral, and pelvic fins along with all their supporting bones and radials; (2) The anatomical atlas of the Nile tilapia skeleton was successfully developed as a printed medium containing direct documentation photographs from skeletal preparations, Latin nomenclature for each skeletal component, and systematic descriptive annotations; (3) The atlas was declared highly feasible as a biology learning resource, with feasibility scores of 81% (Feasible) from the media expert, 97% (Very Feasible) from the subject matter expert, 97% (Very Feasible) from the biology teacher, 94% (Very Feasible) from peer reviewers, and 89% (Very Feasible) from student practicality.570.7 Pendidikan Biologi2026-05-20UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUANThesis
