        <dc:description>Lecturer competency development is one of the important efforts in improving the quality of higher education and the implementation of the tridharma of higher education. Lecturers have a strategic role in the processes of teaching, research, and community service; therefore, sustainable competency development programs are needed. The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga implements various lecturer competency development programs to improve the academic quality and professionalism of lecturers. However, in its implementation, there are still various challenges that affect the effectiveness of lecturer competency development programs. The focus of this study includes the implementation of lecturer competency development programs, the forms of programs implemented, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of lecturer competency development programs at FITK. This study aims to describe the lecturer competency development program at FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.&#13;
The research method used in this study was a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of faculty leaders, heads of study programs, and lecturers within FITK UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation.&#13;
The results of the study indicate that the lecturer competency development program at FITK has been implemented systematically through various academic and professional activities. These programs include seminars, workshops, instructional training, research training, scientific publication assistance, lecturer certification, and further studies. The implementation of lecturer competency development programs is supported by university policies, faculty leadership support, academic facilities, and lecturers’ participation in competency development activities. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include lecturers’ limited time due to the workload of the tridharma of higher education, academic administrative demands, and the continuously evolving competency development needs.</dc:description>
