The nature of parents’ work as farmers, which occupies much of their time, has the potential to influence parenting practices and the development of independence in early childhood. However, empirical evidence shows that children in farming families are still able to demonstrate independent behavior. This study aims to analyze the parenting model of farming families and the process of developing independence in early childhood in Pendem Village, Janapria District, Central Lombok.&#13;
The study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data sources consisted of farmer parents, early childhood children, and supporting informants. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation.&#13;
The findings show that the parenting model of farming families is built through habituation that involves children in daily family activities. Children's independence is developed through habituation, parental guidance, and the provision of responsibilities.
