Misbahul Mujib, S.Ag., M.Hum. abstract: This research is motivated by the phenomenon of Generation Z married couples who remain with their parents after marriage, even though they have a relatively high level of education and their own source of income. This condition shows that the decision to live with parents is not solely influenced by economic factors, but also related to emotional aspects, family values, and the transition process towards independence in building a household. This phenomenon is evidently found in Tateli Weru Village, Mandolang District, Minahasa Regency, where many young couples choose to stay in the same house with their parents after marriage. This study aims to analyze how Gen Z married couples understand and carry out their household rights and obligations, as well as identify the dynamics of their independence in the context of living with their parents. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive-exploratory type of field research. The approach used is psycho-legal. Primary data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, while secondary data was obtained from various sources relevant to young couples who are still living with their parents. The data analysis technique is carried out through triangulation by comparing the results of observations, interviews, and documentation to obtain valid and comprehensive data. The results of the study show that the independence of Gen Z couples cannot be dichotomously categorized as independent or non-independent, but rather is on the transitional spectrum. In general, couples have been able to meet the family's internal needs, such as daily consumption, financial management, and responsibility for children, and most have shown autonomy in household decision-making. However, this independence does not include external aspects, especially in terms of housing, which still depends on the parents. This condition gives birth to the phenomenon of pseudo-independence, which is a state in which the couple appears to be independent in internal aspects, but is not yet completely structurally independent. In the perspective of Self-Determination Theory, the needs for autonomy and competence have been partially met, while the connection with parents is still very strong. Meanwhile, in Al-Ghazali's perspective, the couple has shown efforts towards independence through the fulfillment of responsibilities and ownership of income, but has not yet achieved a complete level of independence due to external dependence. Thus, the independence of Gen Z couples is a dynamic process influenced by economic, psychological, social, and family values, so it requires continuous strengthening to achieve more comprehensive independence. date: 2026-04-20 date_type: published institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: 218 thesis_type: masters thesis_name: other citation: Rizky Ardianto Mulyo, NIM.: 24203011090 (2026) KEMANDIRIAN DALAM KETERGANTUNGAN PADA PELAKSANAAN HAK DAN KEWAJIBAN PASANGAN GEN Z YANG TINGGAL BERSAMA ORANG TUA (STUDI DI DESA TATELI WERU KECAMATAN MANDOLANG KABUPATEN MINAHASA).
