kafa'ah concept
in marriage among the people of Jaya Sakti Village, Anak Tuha District, Central
Lampung Regency. Kafa'ah is a concept of equality between prospective spouses
aimed at creating a harmonious household. This study aims to determine the
commun ity's level of understanding of the kafa'ah concept, its application, and its
implementation in building a harmonious family.
This study uses qualitative methods with an empirical approach to analyze the
application of the kafa'ah concept in marriage among the people of Jaya Sakti
Village. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews,
observation, and documentation with local community and religious leaders. The
data obtained were then analyzed descriptively qualitatively to describe the soc ial
reality and patterns of community understanding regarding kafa'ah. The
theoretical framework in this study uses the social construction theory of Peter L.
Berger and Thomas Luckmann, which explains how society's understanding of the
concept of kafa'ah is formed through the processes of externalization,
objectivation, and internalization in social life. This theory is used to understand
how the concept of kafa'ah in Islamic law, which emphasizes the equivalence of
partners in terms of education, religion , lineage, and wealth, is applied and
interpreted by society in choosing a life partner.
The results of the study indicate that the understanding of the Jaya Sakti Village
community towards kafa'ah is the result of a social construction process that
origin ates from customary values. The application of kafa'ah in Jaya Sakti Village
is not absolute, but is an important consideration in choosing a partner, with
education as the most dominant factor (47%), religion (33%), and property and
lineage (20%). The imp lementation of kafa'ah in Jaya Sakti Village has been
proven to have relevance to the formation of a harmonious family. Thus, the
concept of kafa'ah remains relevant in modern society and plays an important role
in maintaining household harmony, even thoug h it has undergone adjustments
according to local socio cultural conditions.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.577 Hukum Keluarga Islam, Bimbingan Pernikahan, Poligami, Perceraian, Iddah, Pengasuhan Anak)</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-05-21</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS SYARIAH DAN HUKUM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
