      "abstract": "The Larung Sesaji tradition at Parangkusumo Beach is one of the cultural practices of Javanese society that continues to be preserved to this day. This tradition reflects the interaction between local cultural values and Islamic teachings coexisting within a single social system. On one hand, the tradition contains symbolic elements such as offerings and its association with the Queen of the South Sea, which some consider potentially contradictory to Islamic beliefs. On the other hand, the community interprets this tradition as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT, manifested through Islamic prayers and the understanding that the offerings are not intended for worship, but rather as cultural symbols. Based on this condition, this study aims to analyze the meaning and practice of the Larung Sesaji tradition from the perspective of ‘urf and to understand the process of syncretism within its implementation.\r\nThis research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The perspectives of Islamic law through the theory of ‘urf and the theory of syncretism are used to examine the position and the process of interaction between local culture and Islamic teachings in the Larung Sesaji tradition. Data were collected through interviews with abdi dalem, juru kunci, and local community members, direct observation of the ritual, and literature studies from various relevant sources, including books, academic journals, and previous research related to Javanese culture and Islamic law.\r\nThe results of this study indicate that the Larung Sesaji tradition is understood by the community as an expression of gratitude for safety, blessings, and sustenance granted by Allah SWT, as well as a means of maintaining social harmony. Cultural elements such as offerings and the symbolism of the Queen of the South Sea are interpreted as part of cultural heritage and not as objects of worship. From the perspective of ‘urf, this tradition can be categorized as ‘urf ṣaḥīḥ as long as it does not contradict the principles of Islamic monotheism. Meanwhile, from the perspective of syncretism theory, this tradition reflects a process of blending and adaptation between Javanese cultural values and Islamic teachings without eliminating their respective identities. Therefore, the Larung Sesaji tradition not only functions as a cultural ritual but also represents a process of cultural integration within society.",
