This condition raises questions about the effectiveness of the implementation of Law Number 5 of 1999 in handling cooking oil cases by the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU). This study aims to analyze the application of Law Number 5 of 1999 in KPPU Decision Number 24/KPPU-I/2009 and Decision Number 15/KPPU-I/2022 and to assess their conformity with the principles of justice, am?nah (trustworthiness), transparency, and ma?la?ah (public interest) in Islamic economic law. This research employs a qualitative method with a normative juridical approach through statutory and case approaches. Data are obtained from primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, including Law Number 5 of 1999, implementing regulations, KPPU decisions related to cooking oil, literature on competition law, as well as interviews with KPPU officials. The data are analyzed qualitatively using deductive reasoning to examine the relationship between positive legal norms, legal reasoning in the decisions, and the principles of Islamic economic law. The findings indicate that the implementation of Law Number 5 of 1999 in both decisions reaffirms the prohibition of unfair business competition practices, but its effectiveness still faces obstacles in terms of evidence and deterrent effect. From the perspective of Islamic economic law, KPPU?s considerations reflect the values of justice and ma?la?ah, although strengthening transparency and consumer protection is still required to realize a fairer and more sustainable system of business competition.
