The issue of ru’yatullah constitutes one of the central theological debates in Islam concerning the possibility of seeing Allah, whether in this world or in the Hereafter. This research aims to identify the construction of Ibn al-‘Utsaimin’s interpretation and to analyze the extent of its continuity with the theological tradition of Ibn Taymiyyah. This research is a library study employing a qualitative approach and an intellectual genealogy analysis. Primary data were obtained from the exegetical works of Muhammad bin Shalih al-‘Utsaimin and the theological writings of Ibn Taymiyyah. The data were analyzed through a comparative examination of interpretive methods, the use of textual evidence, and the theological arguments developed regarding the issue of ru’yatullah. The findings reveal a strong continuity between Ibn al-‘Utsaimin’s interpretation and the thought of Ibn Taymiyyah, both in methodological aspects and in the substantive content of interpretation. Both scholars distinguish between the concepts of ru’yah (vision) and idrak (comprehension), affirm the possibility of believers seeing Allah in the Hereafter, and uphold the apparent meaning of the relevant Qur’anic verses while rejecting anthropomorphism (tashbih) and inquiries into the modality of divine attributes (takyif). Regarding the possibility of seeing Allah in this world, both reject the occurrence of physical vision with the naked eye, including for the Prophet Muhammad. Reports indicating that the Prophet saw his Lord are interpreted as referring to spiritual vision (ru’yah qalbiyyah) rather than physical vision (ru’yah bashariyyah).
