N2  - The discourse on mun?sabah as both a branch of ?ul?m al-Qur??n and an approach to exegesis has received relatively little attention, largely due to the difficulty in identifying connections. Furthermore, challenges arise from the lack of definitive criteria for determining the coherence of verses, given that mun?sabah is a discipline rooted in ijtih?d? and ?ann? methodologies. The debate over its application continues to unfold. Some scholars fear that its inherently ijtih?d? and ?ann? nature may lead to deviations in linking Qur?anic verses. This mirrors the concerns scholars had when the ra?y approach began to gain prominence in exegesis. Furthermore, some scholars hold the view that each Qur?anic verse was revealed within a specific context; therefore, seeking connections between one verse and another is unnecessary, given that these verses stand on their own in accordance with the asb?b al-Nuz?l (reasons for revelation) pertaining to the relevant verse. Conversely, some scholars assess that the interconnection and coherence of verses in the Qur?an constitute an important approach to study, given that the grandeur of the Qur?anic literature contains a wealth of wisdom and secrets. The verses, arranged as if forming a single unity, possess profound meanings that may be interconnected.
The author addresses the theme of mun?sabah from Suy????s perspective in his two works, Itq?n f? ?Ul?m al-Qur??n and Mar??id al-Ma??li? f? Tan?sub al-Maq??i? wa al-Ma??li?. In addition, this study focuses on examining how the concept of mun?sabah is described by Suy??? while also identifying the similarities and differences between the two works. This is done to observe the development and shifts in Suy????s thinking within the discipline of mun?sabah.
The research method employed is based on library research (literature review) using descriptive analysis and a qualitative approach. The data collection technique utilized is content analysis regarding the development of the concept of mun?sabah from primary and secondary sources. The results of the review and research indicate that mun?sabah has undergone a long evolution, ranging from the implicit tendencies in the practice of mun?sabah interpretation to the stage of becoming a structured and systematic academic discipline. Although Suy??? possessed a strong scholarly background in the authority of riw?yah, he still allocated significant attention to academic disciplines based on ijtih?d, specifically mun?sabah. This study demonstrates that in al-Itq?n, mun?sabah is presented conceptually and is the result of Suy????s compilation of the views of earlier scholars. In contrast to the mun?sabah described in Mar??id al-Ma??li?, in this work Suy??? presents mun?sabah as being more applied and practical. This difference indicates a methodological development in Suy????s perspective on mun?sabah, moving from a conceptual stage toward a more specific practical elaboration of its application.
