Pedukuhan Tirto, Hargotirto, Kokap, Kulon Progo. Unlike nyadran in general, this tradition is a ritual
of veneration centered on Ki Gonotirto, the founding ancestor of the community. Held once every two
years on Friday Kliwon in the month of Dzulhijjah, it requires the slaughter of a kambing kendhit,
though a symbolic substitution using mori cloth has emerged due to the goat's scarcity.
This study aims to describe the practice of the Nyadran Ki Gonotirto tradition and analyze how the
community sustains it amid modernization and social change. A qualitative case study method was
employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation.
The findings reveal three dimensions of cultural resilience: social solidarity through collective
cooperation, spirituality and a system of meaning rooted in ancestral beliefs, and intergenerational
value transmission. The community also faces internal challenges like a juru kunci leadership dispute,
a regeneration crisis, limited historical access, and uneven participation. External challenges including
the scarcity of kambing kendhit, modernization and new religious ideologies, and minimal external
documentation of Situs Tirto. Two main strategies were identified: material adaptation of the ritual and
the strengthening of external support, realized through registration as intangible cultural heritage with
the Ministry of Education and Culture (2023), karawitan performances by the Sedyo Rahayu ensemble,
and independent documentation by the youth organization (2025).</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">201.7 Agama dan Budaya</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-05-13</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
