In many cases, this situation gives rise to tension, emotional strain, and difficulties in managing feelings, which can affect both the parents’ relationship and the child’s well-being. This study aims to explore how parents regulate their emotions following divorce within the context of co-parenting, as well as how parenting practices are carried out in light of Islamic values. This research adopts a qualitative approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The study was conducted in East Aceh Regency and involved six parents selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, and analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that in the early period after divorce, parents often rely on emotional suppression to prevent further conflict, although this tends to result in emotional exhaustion. Over time, however, they gradually develop more adaptive ways of regulating their emotions, shaped by experience and self-reflection. This includes becoming more composed and developing a more balanced understanding of their situation. At the same time, the child consistently remains the central focus. Parents make efforts to stay involved, maintain communication, and reach shared decisions in the best interest of the child. These practices reflect an integration of co-parenting principles with Islamic values such as amanah (trust), sabr (patience), and musyawarah (deliberation).
