(al-'ulam?' warathat al-anbiy?') occupies an important position in the Islamic intellectual tradition, as it serves as a theological foundation for the authority of scholars in guiding the Muslim community. However, in contemporary society, the meaning of this hadith faces new challenges due to the shift of religious authority from a knowledge-based foundation to one influenced by popularity. The emergence of religious figures who gain prominence through digital media often creates confusion regarding who truly deserves to be recognized as a scholar and how the concept of prophetic inheritance should be understood. Therefore, this study aims to examine the authenticity of the hadith concerning scholars as the heirs of the prophets, interpret it through Mu?ammad al-Ghaz?l??s method of hadith understanding, and analyze its relevance in the context of modern life. This research is a qualitative library research. Primary data were obtained from the hadith narrated by Ab? D?w?d No. 3641 along with other supporting narrations of similar meaning, while secondary data were collected from hadith commentaries, books, academic journals, and other relevant literature. The analysis was conducted through sanad (chain of transmission) and matn (textual) criticism, followed by the application of Mu?ammad al-Ghaz?l??s approach to hadith interpretation, which includes examining the conformity of the hadith with the Qur'an, other authentic hadiths, historical facts, and scientific truths. The findings indicate that the hadith concerning scholars as the heirs of the prophets is classified as ?a??? (authentic) in terms of both sanad and matn. All narrators in the principal chain of transmission recorded by Ab? D?w?d are considered trustworthy (thiqah), and the chain is uninterrupted up to the Prophet Mu?ammad. Based on Mu?ammad al-Ghaz?l??s interpretive method, the hadith is consistent with Qur'anic values, supported by other authentic hadiths, compatible with historical realities, and relevant to scientific principles. The study further reveals that the meaning of warathat al-anbiy?' is not limited to social status or popularity; rather, it refers to individuals who possess profound knowledge, moral integrity, practice their knowledge, and assume responsibility for guiding society. In the contemporary context, this hadith emphasizes the importance of scholarly competence, ethical character, and intellectual responsibility as the primary criteria for establishing religious authority amid the rapid flow of digital information.
