The study is motivated by the development of modern scientific paradigms influenced by Western secularism, which has given rise to various civilizational problems, including confusion of knowledge, loss of adab, and the emergence of morally and intellectually unqualified leaders (false leaders). This research employs a library research method with a qualitative approach and content analysis.
The findings reveal that the Islamization of knowledge represents al-Attas’s intellectual response to the dominance of secular Western epistemology, which is not value-neutral. According to al-Attas, modern knowledge embodies a Western worldview that separates religion from knowledge, thereby generating epistemological and moral crises within Muslim societies. Islamization of knowledge is understood as a process of liberating knowledge from secular elements and reintegrating Islamic key concepts into all branches of knowledge. In the context of contemporary Muslim crises, the Islamization of knowledge contributes to overcoming confusion of knowledge through the reconstruction of the Islamic worldview, addressing loss of adab through the concept of ta’dib as the fundamental aim of Islamic education, and preventing the emergence of false leaders by cultivating knowledgeable, ethical, and morally upright individuals. Therefore, al-Attas’s thought offers an epistemological, moral, and educational foundation for the revival of Islamic civilization in the modern era.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.01 Pemikiran keagamaan Islam</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-02</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
