Islamic value-based career guidance is understood as a process of providing assistance so that individuals are able to plan and make career decisions that are in line with Allah's provisions, thereby achieving a balance of happiness in this world and the hereafter. Career planning reflects students' readiness to understand their potential, recognize the world of work and further education, and determine realistic career goals. Before the treatment, observations showed that grade XII students of MAN 2 Yogyakarta still experienced doubts in determining career choices and were not yet ready in decision-making. This study aims to test the effectiveness of Islamic value-based career guidance in improving students' career planning abilities. The study used a quantitative approach with a true experiment method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The study subjects were 28 students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received Islamic value-based career guidance for five sessions, while the control group received basic psychoeducation. Data were collected using a career planning scale and analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. The results showed that after the treatment, students' career planning abilities in the experimental group increased significantly and were higher than those in the control group.
