        abstract = {The phenomenon of early marriage remains a serious issue requiring attention, as
couples who marry before the age of 19{--}often due to pregnancy{--}tend to lack the
emotional readiness needed to navigate married life. This situation has the
potential to lead to conflict and even divorce, making marriage counseling essential
to help build the couples? emotional intelligence. This study focuses on the research
question regarding the stages of marriage counseling to build emotional
intelligence in early-marriage couples at the Kotagede Yogyakarta KUA. The study
aims to identify and describe the stages of marriage counseling to build emotional
intelligence in early-marriage couples at the Kotagede Yogyakarta KUA. This study
employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research subjects
consist of the head of the KUA, religious counselors, and young married couples.
Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then
analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data
presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that
marriage counseling at the Kotagede Yogyakarta KUA is conducted in three stages:
the registration stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage.}
