storytelling to enrich the language of early childhood learners. The study’s objectives
are to analyze the techniques and strategies Kak Al employs when integrating beatbox
into storytelling to enhance children’s language and to evaluate the role of beatbox in
supporting storytelling experiences that promote receptive language development in
early childhood. The research is motivated by increasing gadget use and declining
verbal interaction, which risk causing speech delays; consequently, there is a need for
storytelling strategies that improve attention, comprehension, and phonological
awareness.
A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted. Data were collected through
non-participant observation, interviews with the storyteller and teachers, and
documentation of performance recordings. Data analysis followed Miles and
Huberman’s cycle (data reduction, data display, and verification) and employed
triangulation to strengthen validity.
Thematic analysis identified patterns of melodization techniques, types of sound
effects, and their implications for language learning. Findings indicate that beatbox
functions as an auditory scaffolding that increases children’s engagement, facilitates
the introduction of new vocabulary, and strengthens narrative memory through sound–
story associations. Rhythm techniques, character sound imitation, and repetitive
reinforcement were effective in enhancing attention and phonological awareness. The
study recommends integrating beatbox into early childhood storytelling practice
(PAUD) as an innovative alternative for language enrichment and advocates training
for storytellers and development of beatbox-based teaching modules tailored to
children’s language development stages.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">302.231 Media Komunikasi, Media Massa, Media Sosial</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-05-25</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUAN</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
