"This study aims to describe the form of family social support in improving the\r\nability to access, communicate, understand information, and participate digitally\r\nbased on the social functioning of the elderly in Padukuhan Anjir, Hargorejo,\r\nKokap, Kulon Progo. The researcher's interest in researching the importance of\r\nsocial support in improving the ability to access, communicate, understand\r\ninformation, and participate digitally based on the elderly is because in the\r\ndevelopment of digital technology, the ability of the elderly to use mobile phones\r\nis still limited. These limitations have the potential to affect the social functioning\r\nof the elderly in daily life which can cause the elderly to be easily socially isolated.\r\nTherefore, family social support is needed by the elderly in increasing digital\r\nliteracy. The novelty of this study lies in the location and focus of the study that\r\nplaces the family as the main actor to improve digital literacy as an effort to\r\nmaintain the social functioning of the elderly, not only through formal training\r\nprograms, communities, or certain institutions. This study uses a qualitative\r\napproach of case studies with semi-structured interview, observation, and\r\ndocumentation techniques. The informants consisted of three elderly people, three\r\nelderly families, Padukuhan Anjir hamlet, and two elderly cadres in Padukuhan\r\nAnjir. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model with data validity test\r\nthrough triangulation. The results of the study show that family social support in\r\nimproving the ability to access, communicate, understand information, and\r\nparticipate in digital-based social participation has an impact on the social\r\nfunctioning of the elderly. The support is in the form of emotional support, award\r\nsupport, instrumental support, and informational support. In the process of\r\nincreasing digital literacy, family social support is an important factor that is able\r\nto expand social networks, utilize social resources, improve the functioning of\r\nsocial roles, and social activities.
