Maemonah, M.Ag. abstract: This research is motivated by parental care for children in terms of children's emotional development especially this is focused on children who have single parents only. Parenting patterns have an important influence on the emotional development of children. Where emotional development is the most dominant factor in influencing future success, by teaching children emotional skills they will be better able to overcome various problems. There are three main focuses in this research. First, single parent parenting for children. Second, how is the emotional development of children raised by single parents. Third, the impact of single parent parenting on children's emotional development. This research is qualitative in nature, revealing in detail about MI Quraniah 8 Palembang in single parent parenting. The object of this research is how single parent parenting on children's emotional development is parents, students, and teachers. To answer this question, data were collected by means of observation, interviews and documentation. Observations focused on teacher guidance in the learning process. Interviews focused on parenting and emotional development of children and documentation focused on supporting evidence for children. The results of the study obtained field data, namely: (1) first, the researcher found that each parent had a different parenting pattern according to the rules at home. Second, parents who apply authoritarian parenting tend to be firm and force their children. Third, parents who apply democratic parenting can be more familiar with their children than parents who apply authoritarian and permassive parenting. (2) From the results of interviews with single parents, there were two parents who complained that their children were difficult to study with, that's why the parents gave their children learning and playing time rules. However, what about parents who give freedom to their children because according to him the child is grown and can regulate his own pattern of life.
