Difabel is also commonly used to refer to people with special needs, people with disabilities, or people with limitations. Statistics from the WHO show that people with special needs account for around 15 percent of the world's population. This study aims to: (1) understand the social context of learning at MAN 2 Sleman; and (2) understand the social adaptation process of visually impaired students at MAN 2 Sleman. This study uses a qualitative narrative research method, whereby individuals detail their lives to the researcher. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis involved data reduction, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that visually impaired students at MAN 2 Sleman experience four phases of adaptation: (1) Honeymoon, characterised by the students' initial excitement upon arriving at MAN 2 Sleman; However, the researcher observed less enthusiasm in social interactions, as four visually impaired students were still fearful, shy, and reluctant to communicate. One informant was found to be socially enthusiastic, as evidenced by the interview results. (2) Culture Shock, which the five visually impaired students experienced due to communication and learning difficulties. (3) Recovery, the five informants were able to overcome these difficulties and adapt to life at MAN 2 Sleman. (4) Adjustment: The five informants became accustomed to, and able to adapt to, the environment at MAN 2 Sleman. date: 2026-05-07 date_type: published pages: 111 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Avia Cahyani Putri, NIM.: 21107020052 (2026) ADAPTASI SOSIAL SISWA DIFABEL NETRA DALAM PROSES PEMBELAJARAN DI MAN 2 SLEMAN YOGYAKARTA.
