However, when regional names are used as trademarks by certain parties without a clear legal basis, conflicts of interest often arise between businesses and local communities. One example is the use of the name ‘Kaliurang’ on alcoholic beverage products under the marks name ‘Anggur Merah Kaliurang’. The Kaliurang region is known as a tourist area with high historical, cultural, and religious value. The use of the region's name as a marks for alcoholic beverages has raised moral and social objections from the community because it is considered not to reflect the noble values inherent in the region's identity. This research is normative empirical legal research using a case approach. Data was obtained through interviews, literature studies, and documentation from primary and secondary data. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods to examine the applicable legal provisions and settlement practices. The results of the study show that the Anggur Merah Kaliurang trademark case was resolved not through trademark cancellation proceedings in court, but through the withdrawal of the trademark registration application by the applicant itself. The withdrawal was influenced by objections from the community and the local government, which considered the public interest and the image of the Kaliurang area.
