This study uses four indicators of interest according to Slameto, namely: feelings of pleasure, interest, attention, and participation as well as four indicators of social support according to Safarino, namely: emotional support, support given, instrumental support, and support for participation.
This study uses a mixed method, namely a qualitative approach with an interview method with 10 hearing informants and 7 deaf informants in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, and a quantitative approach through a questionnaire to these informants as confirmation.
The results of this study indicate that the interest of the Hearing community in Indonesian Sign Language (Bisindo) as a social support for Deaf access in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is very strong. Based on the results of interviews with Hearing informants, the four indicators of interest are categorized as very strong, confirmed by the responses of Hearing informants through questionnaires: the indicator of feelings of happiness is categorized as very strong (96%), the indicator of interest is categorized as very strong (94.4%), the indicator of attention is categorized as very strong (94.8%), and the indicator of participation is categorized as very strong (95%). The strong interest of the hearing community in BISINDO demonstrates that it is not difficult to learn and is even interesting and enjoyable. Hearing people who can communicate with BISINDO can not only interact with the deaf community but can also serve as a communication bridge for the deaf in various community activities, thus potentially creating a more inclusive Yogyakarta society. Based on the results of interviews with deaf informants, the four indicators of social support are categorized as very strong, confirmed by the responses of deaf informants through questionnaires: the
emotional support indicator is categorized as very strong (86.9%), the appreciation support indicator is categorized as very strong (90.7%), the instrumental support indicator is categorized as very strong (92.3%), and the informative support indicator is categorized as very strong (96.4%). The strong social support for the deaf community, due to the hearing community’s interest in BISINDO, shows that the deaf community in social interaction really needs the presence of hearing people who can communicate with BISINDO. Deaf people will get ease in social interaction. Deaf people will get access to communication, both in various activities, education, and work.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">301 Sosiologi</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-02</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_77649"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_77649_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
