The Tarbiyatul Mubtadi'in Danawarih Islamic Boarding School is undergoing a transformation from a pure Salaf system to an integration with formal education through a semi-Khalaf Salaf approach. This condition is important to examine to determine how the Islamic boarding school maintains its existence and competitiveness amidst changing times. This research aims to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the Tarbiyatul Mubtadi'in Danawarih Islamic Boarding School, as well as formulate a strategy for the Tarbiyatul Mubtadi'in Danawarih Islamic Boarding School in facing the challenges of educational modernization. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through an interactive model encompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, using a SWOT analysis framework and a TOWS matrix. The results indicate that the strengths of Islamic boarding schools lie in the robustness of the Salaf (traditional Islamic boarding school) education system, the tradition of yellow book scholarship, and the development of the students' character and religious values. Weaknesses identified include limited technology utilization and suboptimal curriculum integration between Islamic boarding schools and formal education. Opportunities include increased public trust in Islamic-based education, government policy support, and the existence of formal educational institutions within a single foundation, such as KI Gede Sebayu Junior High School and Madrasah Aliyah. Meanwhile, threats include competition with modern educational institutions, changing societal preferences, and global demands for skills and technology mastery.
