      "abstract": "This research is motivated by the demands of educational modernization,\r\nwhich encourage Islamic boarding schools to adapt without losing their traditional\r\nidentity. The Tarbiyatul Mubtadi'in Danawarih Islamic Boarding School is\r\nundergoing a transformation from a pure Salaf system to an integration with formal\r\neducation through a semi-Khalaf Salaf approach. This condition is important to\r\nexamine to determine how the Islamic boarding school maintains its existence and\r\ncompetitiveness amidst changing times. This research aims to analyze the strengths,\r\nweaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the Tarbiyatul Mubtadi'in Danawarih\r\nIslamic Boarding School, as well as formulate a strategy for the Tarbiyatul\r\nMubtadi'in Danawarih Islamic Boarding School in facing the challenges of\r\neducational modernization.\r\nThis research employed a qualitative approach with a case study approach.\r\nData collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and\r\ndocumentation. Data analysis was conducted through an interactive model\r\nencompassing data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, using a\r\nSWOT analysis framework and a TOWS matrix.\r\nThe results indicate that the strengths of Islamic boarding schools lie in the\r\nrobustness of the Salaf (traditional Islamic boarding school) education system, the\r\ntradition of yellow book scholarship, and the development of the students' character\r\nand religious values. Weaknesses identified include limited technology utilization\r\nand suboptimal curriculum integration between Islamic boarding schools and\r\nformal education. Opportunities include increased public trust in Islamic-based\r\neducation, government policy support, and the existence of formal educational\r\ninstitutions within a single foundation, such as KI Gede Sebayu Junior High School\r\nand Madrasah Aliyah. Meanwhile, threats include competition with modern\r\neducational institutions, changing societal preferences, and global demands for\r\nskills and technology mastery. Based on these findings, the Islamic boarding school\r\nimplemented an adaptive strategy using the Salaf semi-Khalaf method, which\r\nmaintains the Salaf system as the primary foundation while integrating formal\r\neducation with the development of students' skills.",
