in Javanese language literacy for children aged 4–5 years, as
well as the still low level of children’s understanding of
Javanese language literacy with Yogyakarta cultural content.
Furthermore, with the progression of the 21st century, local
cultural content has increasingly been displaced by foreign
cultures, leading to a continued lack of proficiency in Javanese
grammar and an understanding of cultural diversity—
particularly in the Special Region of Yogyakarta—which must
be adapted to children’s developmental stages. The flipbook
media was designed with an engaging interface using
smartboard technology to boost children’s enthusiasm for
learning activities.
Javanese language literacy is crucial as a child’s ability to
understand and appreciate culture, as well as literacy as an
integral part of behaving in harmony with the socio-cultural
environment. Literacy serves as a foundational aspect for
children in interacting, understanding vocabulary, and solving
problems. This study employs the Research and Development
(R&D) method, based on the ADDIE model, which comprises
five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation,
and evaluation. The subjects in this study were children aged
4–5 years in Class A2 at TK ABA Bayen Kalasan, Sleman, with
a total of 17 children. Product analysis techniques included
feasibility and effectiveness tests. Product evaluation was
conducted using the V formula (Validity of Presentation) to
determine the validity level of the developed media.
Meanwhile, the effectiveness test used a paired-sample t-test
with a one-group pretest-posttest design.
The research results indicate that the Nguri Baja flipbook
media for improving Javanese language literacy yielded
several findings, namely: 1) the Nguri Baja flipbook media
received a score of 80% from media experts, categorized as
“acceptable”; from language experts, 98%; and from content
experts, 96%. Based on these results, it was classified as
“Highly Acceptable” for use in instruction. 2) Practicality was
evident in the teachers’ response evaluations, which yielded a
score of 95.71%, resulting in a rating of “very practical.” 3)
The “Nguri Baja” flipbook is effective, as demonstrated by an
increase in data from the normality test, yielding a result of
0.282—greater than 0.05—and a t-test using the Jamovi
application with a paired t-test model, yielding a result of
0.001—less than 0.05. Thus, a significant difference was found
before and after the use of the media. Based on the results, it
can be concluded that the Nguri Baja flipbook is suitable,
effective, and practical for Javanese language literacy
learning; furthermore, it introduces local culture in
Yogyakarta.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">371.33 Media Pembelajaran</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-05</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU TARBIYAH DAN KEGURUAN</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
