abstract: Guidance and counseling services are an essential component of supporting
students' personal, social, academic, and career development. However, their
implementation continues to face several challenges, including negative
perceptions of school counselors, limited utilization of counseling services, and the
need for evaluation based on students' perspectives as service recipients. This study
aimed to analyze students' responses to the implementation of guidance and
counseling services based on their experiences at SMK Penerbangan Angkasa
Ardhya Garini (AAG) Adisutjipto Yogyakarta. The study employed a descriptive
research design with a quantitative approach as the primary method, supported by
qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires and
analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequencies and percentages.
Qualitative data were obtained through interviews, and documentation and
analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting
of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The
participants consisted of Grade XI students, including 82 questionnaire respondents
and 19 interview informants selected based on their experience in receiving
guidance and counseling services. The findings indicate that students generally
expressed positive responses toward the implementation of classroom guidance,
group guidance, group counseling, and individual counseling services. Positive
responses were associated with the relevance of service content to students' needs,
counselors' communicative approach, and the benefits of the services in addressing
students' personal, social, and academic concerns. Nevertheless, several aspects
require improvement, particularly post-service evaluation, broader student
participation in group services, and efforts to reduce negative stigma toward
guidance and counseling services. Overall, the implementation of guidance and
counseling services has been effective but still requires continuous improvement to
better meet students' developmental needs.
