%T DETERMINANTS OF PROFITABILITY IN SELECTED ENERGY SECTOR FIRMS OF RCEP MEMBER ECONOMIES: EVIDENCE FROM ENERGY INTENSITY, CARBON EMISSION INTENSITY, LEVERAGE, GDP GROWTH, AND INFLATION (2019-2025)
%X This study examines energy sector firms operating in selected member economies of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Australia. This subject is becoming increasingly pertinent due to rising concerns regarding climate change, environmental degradation, and the global transition towards a green economy, particularly in the context of Indonesia's ongoing reliance on fossil fuels and increasing industrial emissions. The present research employs a quantitative approach, utilising secondary data that has been processed through panel data regression analysis. Profitability is measured using Return on Assets (ROA). The findings demonstrate that both company-specific and macroeconomic factors exert an influence on profitability. The examination of the variables revealed that energy intensity, carbon emission intensity, and leverage have the strongest influence on company performance during the study period.
