need for environmental management involving multiple stakeholders. Pondok
Pesantren Ali Maksum Krapyak initiated the Krapyak Peduli Sampah (Krapyak
Waste Care Movement) as a collaborative effort between the Islamic boarding
school and the surrounding community to promote environmental sustainability.
This study aims to describe the stages of collaboration between the pesantren and
the community in the Krapyak Peduli Sampah Movement and to analyze its impact
on environmental sustainability. This research employed a qualitative method with
a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and
documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña
interactive model, which consists of data condensation, data display, and
conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the collaboration followed Barbara
Gray’s three stages of collaboration: problem setting, direction setting, and
implementation. The collaboration was carried out through waste sorting,
collection, processing, and environmental education activities involving the
pesantren, students, and the local community. The impacts of the collaboration were
evident in ecological improvements through reduced waste volume and a cleaner
environment, social improvements through increased awareness, concern, and
community participation, and economic benefits through the utilization of
recyclable waste and reduced waste management costs. However, community
participation in the planning and decision-making processes still needs to be
strengthened. This study concludes that community-based collaboration between
the pesantren and the local community contributes to more participatory and
sustainable environmental management.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">307.14 Pengembangan Masyarakat</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-17</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS DAKWAH DAN KOMUNIKASI</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
