STIGMATISASI BUDAYA PESANTREN DALAM PEMBERITAAN NU ONLINE DAN TEMPO.CO TERKAIT TAYANGAN XPOSE UNCENSORED TRANS7NIM.: 22102010090Aqila Rifqa FayyazaauthorThis study analyzes the stigmatization of pesantren culture in the news coverage of the Xpose Uncensored Trans7 program by NU Online and Tempo.co using Robert N. Entman’s Framing analysis model and Berger Luckmann’s social construction of reality theory. This research is motivated by the controversy surrounding the Trans7 broadcast, which was considered to negatively represent pesantren culture and sparked public debate regarding media ethics, religious-cultural sensitivity, and the image of pesantren in the public sphere. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using Robert N. Entman’s Framing analysis model, which consists of four elements: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgement, and treatment recommendation. The main findings of this study indicate that NU Online and Tempo.co construct different Framings regarding the stigmatization of pesantren culture, NU Online tends to frame pesantren as victims of media harassment by emphasizing religious values, the dignity of kiai, santri ethics, and the historical contributes of pesantren to the nation. Meanwhile, Tempo.co is inclined to portray the controversy as part of a public discourse concerning broadcasting ethics, media freedom, cultural sensitivity, and the responses of religious organization toward media representation. The stigmatization of pesantren culture is represented through controversial narratives in the Trans7 broadcast that do not reflect the actual reality of pesantren culture. This study shows that the media plays important role in shaping the social construction of reality regarding pesantren culture. Differences in media ideology and orientation influence how the media selects facts, uses diction, and emphasizes certain aspects in news reporting.
