Through a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected using in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. The focus of this research is on how seven informants, selected through purposive sampling from Communication Science students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta representing Generation Z, interpret the main character's opposition to ideal social norms through three analytical dimensions: frameworks of knowledge, relations of production, and technical infrastructure. The findings show that the decoding process does not occur in a linear manner; rather, it is significantly influenced by each informant's framework of knowledge, educational background, personal moral values, and empirical experiences. Three reception positions were identified: dominant-hegemonic reading (full acceptance of the director's social critique message), negotiated reading (acceptance in the form of empathy for the victim's condition with moral value adjustments/rejection of the prostitution choice), and oppositional reading (total rejection of the dominant meaning due to moral reasons). This study concludes that the meaning of media texts is not fixed, but is constructed through negotiation between the text and Generation Z audiences within specific socio-cultural and religious contexts. The analysis results indicate that the majority of the audience occupies a negotiated position regarding the character's personal choices, meaning they simultaneously validate the film's critique of structural hypocrisy while maintaining strict moral boundaries on the main character's actions. The act of opposing social norms is not viewed merely as justifiable resistance, but rather stems from power imbalances, a lack of social support, and the environment's failure to implement true religious values.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">302.2 Communication/Komunikasi</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-07-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_77821"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_77821_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
