The background of this research is the placement of the school library in a basement, which differs from the general standard of locating school libraries in easily accessible and visible areas. Such placement poses potential risks that must be examined from the perspective of occupational safety and health (OSH). This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, measurement, interviews, and document studies. The findings reveal hazard risks viewed from five factors: physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychological. Physical hazards include floods, earthquakes, limited natural lighting, absence of backup electricity sources, and unstable air conditioning (AC), with floods and earthquakes identified as the highest risk. Chemical hazards consist of flammable materials and rodent poison, with flammable materials posing the highest risk. Biological hazards involve rats, booklice, termites, cockroaches, and mold, all classified at a medium risk level. Ergonomic hazards include loose cables, curled carpets, damaged cables or exposed electrical connections, sharp furniture edges, and non-ergonomic working positions, with damaged cables posing the highest risk. The only psychological hazard identified is a monotonous room layout, categorized as low risk. Risk control measures are recommended based on the hierarchy of controls: substitution, engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards; engineering and administrative controls for biological hazards; and substitution, engineering, and administrative controls for psychological hazards.
