library as a public space. The study employs a descriptive-critical qualitative
approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and
documentation. Research informants consisted of the library director, librarians,
and non-Muslim students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction,
data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This study employs Jurgen
Habermas’s Public Sphere Theory and Jaeger and Burnett’s Information Worlds
Theory as its analytical framework. This study produced a map of the experiences
of non-Muslims as follows: 1). The UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library has implemented
the principle of inclusivity through services, facilities, collections, and programs
that are open to all users regardless of religious identity. 2). Recognition of non-
Muslim students is manifested through equitable services, the Living Collection
program, and the provision of collections that represent the diversity of information
needs. 3). Non-Muslim students also have positive experiences in accessing and
utilizing library services without experiencing discrimination. However, the
representation of minority groups in the collection and their involvement in service
development still need to be strengthened. This study concludes that the UIN Sunan
Kalijaga Library has functioned as an inclusive and egalitarian public space for
non-Muslim students, although efforts to strengthen substantive inclusivity are still
needed.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">027.7 Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi dan Universitas</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-07-17</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;PASCASARJANA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
