This study aims to determine the level of diversity, distribution patterns, and conservation status of herpetofauna in the Pakem and Cangkringan Resorts of Mount Merapi National Park. Data collection was conducted in February 2026 at three study sites—Tlogo Muncar, Maqom, and Kalikuning—using the Visual Encounter Survey (VES) method. Observations were made in the morning and at night by traversing the survey routes. The results of the study indicate that a total of 22 herpetofauna species were recorded, comprising 12 amphibian species and 10 reptile species from 10 families, with a total of 213 individuals. The Tlogo Muncar site had the highest number of individual encounters at 95, followed by Kalikuning with 73 individuals and Maqom with 45 individuals. The highest diversity index value was found at Tlogo Muncar (H’ = 2.13), followed by Kalikuning (H’ = 2.07), while Maqom had a moderate diversity value (H’ = 1.73). The high diversity in Tlogo Muncar and Kalikuning is influenced by the still-good habitat conditions, availability of water sources, high humidity, and vegetation cover that supports the presence of herpetofauna. The most commonly encountered spesies are Limnonectes kuhlii and Chalcorana chalconota. Based on conservation status, most species are classified as Least Concern (LC). This study indicates that the Pakem and Cangkringan Resort areas still possess habitat conditions capable of supporting the survival of herpetofauna.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">570 Biologi, Ilmu Hayat</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-24</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_77877"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_77877_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
