      "abstract": "This research discusses the legal status of combining the intentions of ‘aqīqah and\r\nqurbān in a single sacrificial animal according to Imam Ar-Ramlī and Imam Ibnu\r\nḤajar al-Haitamī within the Shafi‘i school. There is no explicit Qur’anic verse or\r\nhadith that allows or forbids this combination, while the community needs a more\r\neconomically feasible form of worship. The study aims to describe the opinions of\r\nboth scholars, explain the legal reasoning they use, and analyze them through the\r\nperspective of maqāṣidī ijtihad by Imam al-Syāṭibī.\r\nThis is a comparative descriptive-analytical library research with a normative\r\napproach. The primary sources are Nihāyatul Muḥtāj ilā Syarḥ al-Minhāj (Imam\r\nAr-Ramlī) and Tuhfatul Muḥtāj bi Syarḥ al-Minhāj (Imam Ibnu Ḥajar al-Haitamī),\r\nwhile secondary sources include fiqh books, hadiths, books, journals, and relevant\r\narticles.\r\nThe results show that Imam Ar-Ramlī permits combining the intentions of ‘aqīqah\r\nand qurbān in one animal because both are considered similar acts, whereas Imam\r\nIbnu Ḥajar al-Haitamī rejects it due to their different objectives. This difference\r\nstems from their ijtihad methods: Ar-Ramlī emphasizes qiyās (analogy) and\r\npublic benefit, while Ibnu Ḥajar emphasizes caution in preserving the specific\r\nobjectives of each worship. According to Imam al-Syāṭibī’s maqāṣidī ijtihad, Ar-\r\nRamlī’s opinion aligns with facilitating (ḥājiyyāt), while Ibnu Ḥajar emphasizes\r\nmaintaining the primary purpose (ḍarūriyyāt). In conclusion, Ibnu Ḥajar’s view is\r\nconsidered more in line with maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah in preserving the essential\r\nobjectives of ‘aqīqah and qurbān.",
