        abstract = {Narcotics abuse is a criminal offense that continues to develop and requires
investigators to carry out their role professionally in law enforcement. This
study aims to analyze the role of investigators at the Yogyakarta Municipal
Police (Polresta Yogyakarta) in handling criminal offenses of narcotics
abuse, identify the obstacles encountered, and analyze the efforts
undertaken to overcome those obstacles. This research employs an
empirical juridical legal research method with a qualitative approach. The
data were obtained through interviews with investigators from the Narcotics
Investigation Unit of Polresta Yogyakarta and a literature review, and were
analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study
indicate that the investigators of Polresta Yogyakarta have performed their
duties in accordance with the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code
(KUHAP), Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National
Police, and Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. However,
several obstacles remain, including the increasingly sophisticated modus
operandi of offenders, limited information, and difficulties in uncovering
narcotics trafficking networks. To address these challenges, investigators
conduct case development, strengthen coordination with relevant agencies,
and optimize the investigation process in accordance with the applicable
legal provisions.}
