The research questions are: first, how did the judges interpret the grounds of termination due to efficiency in relation to the fulfillment of workers’ severance rights; and second, how is legal protection provided to workers regarding compensation payments in the decision. This research is a normative legal study with a descriptive-analytical character. The approaches employed are the statute approach and the case approach. The data were collected through library research using primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, then analyzed qualitatively and presented descriptively. The findings show that the panel of judges carefully interpreted efficiency as a ground for termination by affirming that a transfer of company ownership does not terminate the worker’s length of service. Therefore, the worker’s service period must be calculated cumulatively from the beginning of employment, which obliges the employer to pay severance pay, service appreciation pay, and the remaining compensation according to the actual period of service. In addition, legal protection for workers in this case tends to be repressive, because the restoration of rights is carried out through court proceedings after the dispute has arisen.
