Melalui struktur puisi bebas dan pengulangan magis, Asrul Sani mengalihkan praktik mantra komunal menjadi ekspresi batin pribadi, selaras dengan semangat Angkatan '45 yang bebas dan ekspresif. Pilihan simbol yang kuat (raja batu, naga malam, api, hutan mati) menciptakan dunia mistis yang sekaligus menyampaikan nilai kekuatan yang bertanggung jawab.
