MIFTAH MAULANA HABIBURROHMAN SEBAGAI DA’I : PADA JAMAAH PENGAJIAN MALAM AHAD PAHING PONDOK PESANTREN ORA AJI SLEMAN %X This study aims to analyze the credibility of KH. Miftah Maulana Habiburrohman (Gus Miftah) as a da’i based on the subjective experiences of the congregation attending the Malam Ahad Pahing Islamic gathering at Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta, as well as to examine how Gus Miftah’s credibility as a da’i is perceived by the digital public. The study is motivated by the differences in perceptions between public opinions on social media, which tend to highlight Gus Miftah’s controversies, and the experiences of congregants who interact directly with him during the religious gathering. This research employs a phenomenological paradigm with a qualitative approach. The analysis integrates Source Credibility Theory developed by Carl I. Hovland, Irving L. Janis, and Harold H. Kelley, Erving Goffman’s theory of self-presentation, as well as the concepts of da’i and congregation. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation conducted during four sessions of the religious gathering. The findings indicate that Gus Miftah’s credibility is constructed through six mutually reinforcing dimensions: trustworthiness, expertise, dynamism, sociability, coorientation, and charisma. In addition, public opinion also contributes to the assessment of Gus Miftah’s credibility. These six dimensions are manifested through consistency between words and actions, argumentative and contextual communication skills, egalitarian social relationships, the use of language and humor that resonate with the congregation’s cultural background, and exemplary conduct through preaching through action). This credibility contributes to changes in the congregation’s behavior by strengthening moral character, fostering inner peace, and transforming their perspectives in dealing with various challenges in life. The study concludes that direct and repeated experiences within the religious gathering establish a stronger interpretive framework than the construction of opinions in digital spaces, thereby sustaining the congregation’s loyalty despite various public controversies. Theoretically, this study contributes an integrated framework combining Source Credibility Theory, self-presentation theory, and the concepts of da’i and congregation. Practically, the study demonstrates that the success of contemporary Islamic preaching is determined by the integration of scholarly competence, personal authenticity, the ability to establish humanistic social relationships, and meaningful spiritual experiences for the congregation. %K Preacher Credibility, Islamic Propagation Communication (Dakwah Communication), Gus Miftah, Lecture Congregation %D 2026 %I FAKULTAS DAKWAH DAN KOMUNIKASI %L digilib77983
