%X Drug abuse is a serious problem that has a wide impact on individuals, groups, and society. drug abuse cases that, over time, have increased so that they require effective and sustainable handling. One important approach in the recovery process is addiction counseling, which utilizes therapeutic communication. In rehabilitation, therapeutic communication between addiction counselors and counselees plays a crucial role in supporting recovery and therapeutic success. Effective therapeutic communication helps build a relationship of trust and allows the counselor to better understand the emotional and psychological needs of the counselee. The communication strategies implemented not only motivate the counselees to actively participate in the rehabilitation process but also help them overcome various challenges faced during recovery This study uses a descriptive-qualitative method to describe therapeutic communication strategies applied by addiction counselors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 2 assistant addiction counselors, 2 counselees, and 1 addiction counselor working at PABM Nawacita, as well as direct observation during counseling sessions. Data analysis was conducted by identifying the main themes that emerged from the interview transcripts and observation notes. The results showed that the therapeutic communication strategy applied by addiction counselors at PABM Nawacita Yogyakarta consists of three main phases: the orientation phase, the working phase, and the termination phase. Each phase has a unique communication strategy, which is adapted according to the needs and development of the victim during the rehabilitation process.
