This has an impact on adolescents’ psychological well being, leading to difficulties in regulating emotions, low self esteem, and challenges in building healthy relationships. Previous research has focused on the impact of fatherlessness without thoroughly examining the role of family counselors as intervention agents. Therefore, this study aims to describe the role of family counselors in improving the psychological well being of fatherless adolescents at PUSPAGA in Yogyakarta. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including semi structured interviews with three counselors and one psychologist, pre study observations, and documentation in the form of client evaluation forms. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, and data validity was tested through source and method triangulation. The results identified three roles of counselors: a preventive role through education and raising awareness about the impact of the absence of a father figure, as well as early detection of psychological vulnerabilities a curative role through counseling focused on trauma, emotion regulation therapy, and conflict resolution; and a developmental role through self potential development, training in adaptive coping mechanisms, and facilitating future planning.
