%T HUBUNGAN ANTARA DUKUNGAN SOSIAL TEMAN SEBAYA DENGAN HOMESICKNESS MAHASISWA PERANTAU TAHUN PERTAMA DARI LUAR JAWA DI UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA
%X This research is based on the phenomenon of first year migrant students
from outside Java having to face various homesickness challenges in the
process of self-adjustment due to being far from their home environment. This
research aims to find out the relationship between peer social support and
homesickness of first-year foreign students from outside Java at UIN Sunan
Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The formulation of this research problem is whether there
is a relationship between peer social support and homesickness of first-year
foreign students from outside Java at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This
research uses a quantitative approach with correlational design. The research
population consists of 1.376 first-year foreign students from outside Java, with
a sample of 93 respondents determined using probability sampling technique
through random sampling. Data collection was carried out using the Likert
scale of peer social support based on Sarafino and Smith's theory and a
homesickness scale based on Stroebe's theory. Data analysis using pearson
product moment correlation test. The research results show that there is a
significant negative relationship between peer social support and
homesickness with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.050) and a correlation
coefficient of -0.342. It means that the higher the social support of peers
received, the lower the level of homesickness experienced. This finding
confirms the importance of the role of peer social support in helping students
to face homesickness.
