"Environmental problems resulting from mining activities in Roko-Roko Village,\r\nKonawe Kepulauan Regency, have not only affected the environment but have\r\nalso generated social dynamics and differences in community perspectives. This\r\ncondition has encouraged religious leaders to play a role in developing ecological\r\nawareness through persuasive communication. This study aims to analyze the\r\nmoral motivations underlying the role of religious leaders in developing\r\necological awareness and the persuasive communication used to shape awareness\r\nand encourage ecological action among the community. The study employs Max\r\nWeber’s Social Action Theory to analyze moral motivation and Carl I. Hovland\r\nand the Yale Group’s Persuasive Communication Theory to examine the\r\npersuasive communication process. This research uses a qualitative approach\r\nwith a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth\r\ninterviews, and documentation involving religious leaders, environmental activists\r\nor youth, and community members in Roko-Roko Village. Data were analyzed\r\nusing the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings show that the\r\nmoral motivations of religious leaders are rooted in concern for community\r\nsustainability, concern over the social and ecological impacts of mining, and\r\nIslamic values that shape a moral responsibility to preserve the environment.\r\nFrom Weber’s perspective, these motivations reflect value-oriented action\r\n(Wertrational). Persuasive communication is carried out through religious\r\nactivities and social interactions by connecting Islamic values with environmental\r\nrealities through dialogical approaches, exemplary conduct, and religious and\r\nnon-confrontational messages. This process gradually contributes to a change in\r\nthe community’s perception of the environment, from being viewed primarily as a\r\nsource of economic livelihood to being understood as a divine trust, a shared\r\nliving space, a legacy for future generations, and part of the identity of the\r\nRoko-Roko community. Thus, persuasive communication by religious leaders does\r\nnot merely convey ecological messages but contributes to transforming moral\r\nvalues into ecological awareness and shared responsibility for environmental\r\npreservation."^^ .
