Th.I., M.A. abstract: This study aims to analyze the representation of religious exclusivism in the drama series "Bidaah." The drama series from Malaysia depicts how religious teachings are used as a tool of control by religious leaders with authority. It also examines how power relations are constructed and operate within the drama. The focus of this research is on how religious leaders construct truth claims, influence followers, and maintain authority through religious discourses depicted in various scenes. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method with a Stuart Hall representational approach in the scenes depicted. Furthermore, Michel Foucault's theory of power was used to examine how power operates through religious discourse, adherence, and the influence of religious figures on their followers. The research data were obtained from several scenes and dialogues in the drama series Bidaah. The results of this study indicate that the representation of religious exclusivism in the character of Walid is constructed through the practice of foot-kissing, Islamic economics, arranged marriages and forced marriages, the transfer of divine authority, the sanctity of the leader's former bathwater, and Malay narratives. Power relations are evident through followers' obedience to Walid's commands, despite the practice of deviations disguised as religious legitimacy. Factors underlying the emergence of this religious exclusivism include the use of religious arguments, the construction of a discourse that positions religious leaders as the most correct, and a lack of critical thinking among followers toward religious authority. These findings indicate that power relations in religion do not emerge spontaneously but are constructed through symbolic practices, the influence of leaders, and the control of religious discourse. date: 2026-06-03 date_type: published pages: 123 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Itsna Musyafaah, NIM.: 22105040072 (2026) REPRESENTASI EKSKLUSIVISME AGAMA DALAM RELASI KUASA TOKOH WALID PADA SERIAL DRAMA BIDAAH.
