This myth is not only understood as a story passed down through generations but also serves as a social guideline that influences community life. The myth’s existence persists through interpersonal communication carried out by parents, traditional leaders, and the community in their daily lives. This study employs Roland Berthes Theory myth Joseph A. Devito’s theory of interpersonal communication, Fritz Heider’s attribution theory, and George Herbert Mead’s symbolic interactionism. The research adopts a qualitative approach using a case study methodology. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis utilizes the Miles and Huberman model, comprising the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that interpersonal communication within the community to uphold the myth of marriage prohibition is carried out through the transmission of stories, advice, and social experiences from one generation to the next. The community’s reverence for their ancestors and their belief in the consequences of violating the prohibition are the primary factors in the survival of this myth. Furthermore, the myth of marriage prohibition also influences the community’s patterns of social interaction and fosters a shared awareness of the need to preserve the cultural values inherited from their ancestors. Thus, interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in sustaining the myth of marriage prohibition as part of the cultural identity of the communities in Golan Village and Mirah Hamlet.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">302.2 Communication/Komunikasi</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-25</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS DAKWAH DAN KOMUNIKASI</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_78051"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_78051_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
