        <dc:description>Body dissatisfaction is a widespread phenomenon, particularly among female&#13;
adolescents. Research addressing body dissatisfaction continues to be conducted and&#13;
developed. Across many aspects, the use of visual-based social media such as Instagram,&#13;
reinforced by social comparison, represents some of the factors showing a major influence. The&#13;
use of Instagram provides unrealistic depictions of body shape, which subsequently prompts&#13;
female adolescents, as viewers, to engage in social comparison between their own bodies and&#13;
the images they see on Instagram. This study was conducted to determine how social&#13;
comparison mediates the relationship between the intensity of Instagram use and body&#13;
dissatisfaction in female adolescents. A quantitative approach using multiple linear regression&#13;
analysis was employed, with data collected online through questionnaires from female&#13;
adolescent respondents across Indonesia. The instruments used were the intensity of Instagram&#13;
use scale, alongside adapted versions of the body dissatisfaction scale and the social&#13;
comparison scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression testing. The&#13;
results of the study indicate that social comparison partially mediates the relationship between&#13;
the intensity of Instagram use and body dissatisfaction.</dc:description>
