      "abstract": "Character education has an important role in fostering self-identity in order to prevent deviant\r\nbehavior. This is inseparable from the importance of positive habits, one of which is through the\r\nrecitation of Asmaul Husna. Ali Maksum Krapyak Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta, makes\r\nAsmaul Husna Krapyak a characteristic that is carried out routinely before studying, praying in\r\ncongregation, or other activities. Through this habit, students experience the development of selfregulation\r\nstarting from observing their behavior (self-observation), assessing actions (selfjudgment),\r\nto correcting themselves (self-reaction). This study aims to describe the picture of the\r\nhabit of reading Asmaul Husna Krapyak on the development of self-regulation in the formation of\r\nstudents' characters carried out in the Islamic boarding school environment. So that it is known what\r\ncharacters are formed through the development of self-regulation in the habit of reading Asmaul\r\nHusna Krapyak. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive phenomenological\r\napproach. The subjects of this study were 4 active female students of Ali Maksum High School who\r\nimplement the habit regularly. The results of this study indicate that all subjects demonstrated that\r\nregular recitation of the Quran acts as a means of inner peace and internalization of spiritual values,\r\nwhich stimulates the development of self-regulation in students. This practiced self-regulation\r\nultimately shapes positive character traits in students, including religiosity, honesty, responsibility,\r\nself-confidence, and good manners. This recitation is scheduled at least three times daily in the\r\ndormitory and at school.",
