Therapeutic communication by nurses plays a crucial role in supporting recovery, alongside medical treatment. This study employed a qualitative approach, in which primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with three informants and the patients’ families as a form of triangulation, supplemented by documentation and a literature review. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results revealed that the four stages were implemented situationally according to the patients’ conditions. In this process, the “work” stage was the most intensive in simultaneously supporting all six mental health indicators through strategies such as affirming self-acceptance, guiding gradual practice, managing negative emotions, engaging patient autonomy, providing explanations that aid in perceiving reality, and building interpersonal relationships that strengthen patients’ mastery of their environment. This study concludes that nurses’ therapeutic communication makes a tangible contribution to the mental health recovery of stroke patients, and its implementation is spontaneous and based on personal experience.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">153.6 Psikologi Komunikasi</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-08-11</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUMANIORA</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mods:mods>
