"The rapid growth of social media has made it increasingly easy for young\r\nchildren to be exposed to various forms of digital content. Excessive exposure to\r\nsocial media has the potential to affect children's socio-emotional development if\r\nnot accompanied by guidance from parents and teachers. This phenomenon was\r\nobserved at ABA Kindergarten in Kedungpoh, Gunungkidul, where some children\r\nwere already familiar with social media at an early age. This study aims to describe\r\nthe nature of this social media exposure, the impact of such overexposure on\r\nchildren's socio-emotional development, and the efforts made by teachers and\r\nparents to minimize any negative effects.\r\nThis study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research\r\ndesign. The research subjects are young children at ABA Kindergarten in\r\nKedungpoh, Gunungkidul, while the informants—comprising the school principal,\r\nteachers, and parents—were selected using purposive sampling. Data were\r\ncollected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and subsequently\r\nanalyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, which involves data\r\ncondensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity\r\nwas ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation..\r\nResearch findings indicate that children's exposure to social media stems\r\nfrom family, peer, and school environments, with YouTube and TikTok being the\r\nmost frequently accessed platforms. Excessive social media exposure leads to\r\nincreased imitative behavior, altered emotional regulation, and reduced\r\nconcentration, while also affecting children's social interactions. Strategies\r\nemployed by teachers and parents include limiting gadget usage, supervising social\r\nmedia access, selecting age-appropriate content, and encouraging in-person play\r\nand social interaction. While the study underscores the importance of collaboration\r\nbetween schools and families in optimizing children's socio-emotional\r\ndevelopment, its scope was limited to a single institution, meaning the findings\r\ncannot be broadly generalized."^^ .
