Previous studies of this work have tended to focus on issues of homosexual orientation, literary analysis, and its influence on the tradition of courtly love in Europe. Consequently, the philosophical dimension of Ibn Hazm's conception of love has been largely unexplored. This gap serves as the starting point for this study. The study employed library research with a qualitative approach. The primary source is Thawq al-Hamamah in its Arabic version and translations, while secondary sources include works discussing Ibn Hazm and his concept of love. As an analytical framework, this study uses Plato's ladder of love theory in Symposium, borrowing three paradigmatic concepts: romantic love, ethical love, and ontological love, to interpret Ibn Hazm's conception of love. The results show that Ibn Hazm's conception of love is a movement from romantic love to ethical love, ultimately culminating in ontological love. In the romantic dimension, Ibn Hazm empirically describes the emotional and relational dynamics of the experience of love, including the causes of love's emergence, its signs, and the obstacles that can abort it. In the ethical dimension, love is placed under consideration of moral and religious values: although love is a natural state that is not prohibited, it must be kept within the limits of the Shari'a through controlling lust and maintaining self-purity. In the ontological dimension, love is understood as the intrinsic connection (al-ittishal) of the soul within the structure of human existence itself, an ontological principle that precedes and underlies all other expressions of love. Thus, Ibn Hazm's philosophy of love is not merely a description of emotional experience or a moral guide, but a complete philosophical reflection on the nature of the soul, existence, and the most fundamental relationships between humans.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">297.261 Islam dan Filsafat, Filsafat Islam</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">2026-06-22</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:originInfo><mods:publisher>UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM</mods:publisher></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Thesis</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_78327"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_78327_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
