A common assumption in the community is that the financial independence gained following P3K appointment triggers marital breakdown. This study aims to analyze the impact of changes in socioeconomic status following P3K appointment on divorce in Blitar City, as well as to identify the underlying factors behind divorces among P3K couples at the Blitar Religious Court, using Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as an analytical framework. This study employs a juridical-empirical approach by combining two types of research: library research and field research. The library research involved analyzing ten P3K divorce rulings from the Blitar Religious Court in 2025, relevant laws and regulations, and supporting scholarly literature. Field research was conducted through interviews with judges at the Blitar City Religious Court to reinforce the findings from the analysis of the judgment documents. The collected data was then qualitatively analyzed using a deductive method based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theoretical framework. The research results reveal two main conclusions. First, changes in socioeconomic status following P3K appointment do not influence divorce rates in Blitar City; the core issues underlying P3K couples’ divorces had actually been present long before their appointment as P3K employees. Second, the factors causing divorce among P3K couples at the Blitar Religious Court stem from the unmet needs across nearly all levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, including disrupted physiological needs due to the husband’s failure to provide financial support, unmet safety needs resulting from domestic violence and financially harmful behavior, social needs lost due to the husband leaving the shared residence, the need for esteem unmet due to a lack of appreciation from the spouse, and the need for self-actualization that cannot be realized in an unfavorable household environment.297.577 Hukum Keluarga Islam, Bimbingan Pernikahan, Poligami, Perceraian, Iddah, Pengasuhan Anak)2026-06-12UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA;FAKULTAS SYARIAH DAN HUKUMThesis
