PAI learning has often been considered monotonous and memorization oriented, thus lacking the ability to connect the material to the realities of students' lives. Therefore, a more contextual and student centered learning method is needed, one of which is through the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL). This study aims to describe the steps in Islamic Religious Education (ISE) using the Problem Based Learning method, the implementation of Problem Based Learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, and the implications of this application on the competencies of Islamic Religious Education (ISE) learning at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Elementary School, Wonosari. This study employed qualitative research methods with field research. This approach was used to gain a deeper understanding of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method in ISE learning. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in depth interviews with the principal, ISE subject teachers, and students, as well as documentation related to the research focus. The results indicate that the ISE learning process at Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin Elementary School, Wonosari, has implemented the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method through several stages: orienting students to the problem, organizing students into groups, investigating solutions, presenting discussion results, and evaluating and reflecting on learning. The implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) involves presenting students with problems relevant to their lives, such as tolerance, empathy, and social interaction, which are then analyzed based on Islamic values derived from the Quran and Hadith. This method makes learning more active, communicative, collaborative, and meaningful. The implications of implementing Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) are evident in increased student engagement, critical thinking skills, collaborative skills, courage to express opinions, and understanding of the material and Islamic moral values that can be applied in everyday life. However, the implementation of PBL has not fully met the theoretical requirements due to limited learning time, student characteristics, and classroom conditions.} }
